yes, i had a chicken photoshoot...
Johnny and I stayed up all night posing the chickens of the Enchanted Forest...they were worse than supermodels, they wouldn't stay still... but it was a blast. I acquired this lovely flock as fresh hatched chicks last May and as of Sept 2009 unfortunately all of them have met their end...overheating, raccoons, a fox, loose dogs and even a hatchet to the Pea rooster for being too bold.
Mr. Papr and i loved them dearly and found our chicken time quite therapeutic. Each had a very distinct personality and was raised to be very sociable with everyone. Miss Orangina was a superstar with the Yard Dogs Roadshow, she was soo audacious and even with her little mutilated beak, would hold full in-depth conversations with me.
Pecking order dominant Miss Marble broke her leg when very young but mended stronger than ever. I'd see Papr in the early morning outside his airstream with little chicks perched all over him. We both have huge collections of feathers.
One of the original older ones went blind and i hand fed her very hungry beak for over a month till Brandon the buddha bravely put her down early one morning. I'm pretty sure she ended up in one of Alberts shepards pies. Miss Buttercup stayed in the freezer till all but forgotten one feasty day, I dont eat chicken.
But in the end their tameness and bravery prolly did them in. They spent their very happy days cleaning up the outside kitchen lounging on the couch, depositing eggs in the strangest places, roaming the 3 acres for grubs, geckos, roaches...whatever, and chatting constantly to everyone and everything that passed. They followed me around incessantly, climbing on my art table spilling everything and sometimes leaving a gift of a green egg. The forest was so silent after they were gone. I keep telling Albert he needs a petting zoo...monkeys, goats, miniature horses named "Lightning", peacocks, all forms of animals for his Ark...but i think it has something to do with aliens
